Description

1972 Porsche 911 3. 6ltr Grand Tourer by Autofarm –

An early example of an Autofarm Grand Tourer, XAG 3K combines classic 1972 long-bonnet aesthetics with 964-derived 3. 6-litre performance and genuine real-world usability. Completed in 2007 and showing approximately 15, 000 miles since build, it is offered from only its third custodian with detailed history.

Long before “reimagined by” became common marketing language, Autofarm was building carefully engineered 911s designed to be driven properly. Established in 1973, the company earned its reputation through considered donor selection, mechanical integrity and a focus on dynamic ability over fashion.

XAG 3K was commissioned in 2006 as Autofarm’s Grand Tourer edition and completed the following year. It has since featured on PistonHeads, was driven by Henry Catchpole for Evo magazine where it received a five-star verdict, and appeared in a six-page feature in Total 911 magazine.

At its core is a galvanised Carrera 3. 2 bodyshell, selected for corrosion resistance and as one of the final shells capable of accepting early wings, lights and bumpers. The exterior presentation is pure 1972: long-bonnet profile, 2. 4-style engine grille and subtle 911S badging. The car remains badged as a 2. 4-litre, in keeping with the original period appearance.

Power comes from a 964-sourced 3. 6-litre air-cooled flat-six producing approximately 250 bhp, paired with a G50 five-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential. A bespoke stainless-steel sports exhaust complements the engine’s character and response.
Suspension has been uprated with Bilstein dampers and Turbo torsion bars. Fifteen-inch Fuchs wheels retain correct period stance while concealing four-pot Boxster brakes. There is no ABS, preserving the direct and analogue feel expected of an air-cooled 911.

The interior follows a clear brief: purposeful and driver-focused. Period Recaro seats retrimmed in cowhide sit behind a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, with a Carrera 3. 2 dashboard providing familiar ergonomics. Rear seats have been deleted, along with door pockets and other non-essential items, creating useful luggage space and a focused cockpit environment.

Despite its stripped-back ethos, the car remains highly usable, equipped with central locking, alarm/ immobiliser and electric windows in the spirit of a 964 RS Touring.
With around 15, 000 miles covered since completion, this is not a static showpiece but a proven and well-documented example of the Autofarm approach: understated, mechanically strong and built for driving.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of the earlier Autofarm Grand Tourer builds, offered with comprehensive history and documentation.
