History and Rarity
The 1959 Beetle belongs to the “Oval Window” series now evolved into the configuration with the larger rear window (introduced in 1958), characterised by significant structural and mechanical improvements compared with early 1950s examples.
By the late 1950s, Volkswagen was already a global phenomenon: production had surpassed one million units in 1955 and continued to grow rapidly. However, 1959 models with a coherent chassis number and still equipped with the original 1200 engine are today highly interesting historically, especially if restored with philological and technical care.
This example retains its 1, 192 cc engine (1, 184 cc as stated in the registration document), an important element for authenticity and collectible value.

Restoration
The restoration was total and thorough:
Bodywork
• Complete disassembly of the shell
• Full restoration of the bodywork
• Paintwork in Blue metallic (custom colour – not the original Volkswagen shade, chosen at the owner's specific request)
The colour choice is one of the distinguishing elements of this car: the metallic blue gives contemporary elegance while respecting the model’s classic lines.
Interiors
• Complete interior reupholstery in white, creating a refined contrast with the blue body
• Handcrafted detailing
The white/ blue combination emphasises luminosity and exclusivity, making the car unique compared with the standard configurations of the era.
