A delightful early Chummy, featuring the desirable three-piece bonnet and capturing all the charm of Austin’s pioneering light car. Remarkable originality, retaining its original chassis, engine, axles and body, all correctly stamped and corresponding, an increasingly rare attribute
Fascinating, well-documented history, supported by an extensive history file including letters detailing the car’s use and maintenance over many decades
Extraordinary long-term ownership, purchased from a scrapyard in 1938 by Mr Dobell and kept until 1992, used as everyday family transport
Meticulous later custodianship, acquired by the late Bob Watt in 1992, who kept detailed mileage logs and records, all on file
Comprehensive restoration, carried out by the current owner after purchase in 2011, with photographs documenting the work. Major works completed, including engine and gearbox rebuilds, brake overhaul, chassis refurbishment and retrimmed interior. Converted to run on a 12-volt system, has trafficators and brake lights.
