Description
Only 59, 764 km!
First owner
Specially made by Mercedes-Benz for an emperor
The cabriolet was ordered in a French specification with flagstaff holders and several other rare features and extras, among others.
Harder springs, shortwave radio adapter, tropical battery
In addition it features:
Behr air conditioning, four electric windows, coloured glazing, red entry sills and much more..
The Mercedes was delivered new by the company Oubangui Automobile in Bangui, Central African Republic, to Emperor Bokassa I.
The W111 was part of the palace carriage fleet from 1970 to 1979 when Bokassa and his family had to flee into French exile.
The car and many other treasures, however, he could take with him.
Later he was forced to sell some of his possessions, and thus an almost showroom-condition 3. 5 Cabriolet returned to Germany.
Fortunately it has since been in the hands of collectors who recognised and preserved its sensational quality.
The mileage of 59, 764 km is indeed the total mileage; the interior matches that of a one-year-old car.
Boot and carpet almost unused!
The vehicle should, on the basis of its condition and the special configuration including documented history, be the most interesting 3. 5 Cabriolet in the world.
