Lotus Elise Motorsport, number 055, delivered new in March 2001 by the first and unique italian owner who entered the car on just two races: the 6 hours of Vallelunga and a “time attack” race at the Bologna Motorshow. It is the number 55 of 60 cars totally produced, purchased with a second yellow car that raced for many years in Italy. This example on the contrary remained stored into the garage for many years, till now, fully overhauled.
With less than 10 hours of activity, this is no doubt the most original and preserved Elise Motorsport that you can get in 2020. Built in Motorsport department this is a true race car, different by the Exige the model born thanks to the experience of this model used on a one make serie in UK: these cars had the central driver seat, peculiarity that forbad the use in GT class. For this reason this car was specifically ordered with left driver seat.
Just 19 cars were produced with left driving position: 12 were sold in USA, a couple in Japan, two in Italy and the others remained in UK. Other 16 cars had the right driving position and 24 had centre seat.
The two italian cars obtained the GT homologation then they demonstrated all its potential: the Rover K engine 1. 8 reached a top power of 200 hp, paired with a dog clutch gearbox and limited slip differential pushed to the limit the Elise which weighted less than 700kgs. The car came with fully integrated Safety Devicesrollcage, Speedline lightweight alloy wheels, Perspex side glasses and windshield, adjustable carbon rear wing and large front splitter, integrated fire system, external and internal kill switches, adjustable brake bias,, Stack dashboard with data log, Recaro Lotus Sport original seat with 6 points harnesses, MOMO steering wheel with quick release boss and sport exhaust system. According to the Certificate provenance, the customer supplied the twin brake pump kit and the bag fuel tank.
Original body with first paint and first equipment components: the car will be delivered with Lotus certificate of authenticity, bill of sale and photos of the races.

Lotus Elise Motorsport, numero 055, acquistata nuova nel Marzo del 2001 dal primo ed unico proprietario italiano che la impiegò per correre, tuttavia solo in due competizioni: la 6 ore di Vallelunga ed una gara a inseguimento al Motorshow di Bologna. Si tratta dell’esemplare numero 55 di 60 totali prodotti, venne consegnato assieme ad una seconda Motoesport di colore giallo che ha corso per molti anni in Italia. L’auto in oggetto, invece, è rimasta ferma fino ad oggi, quando è stata sottoposta ad un rialzo completo.
*** meno di 10 ore di attività, questo esemplare è sicuramente l’Elise Motorsport più sana ed originale arrivata fino ai giorni nostri. Costruita nel reparto Motorsport, si tratta di una vera auto da corsa, differente dalla Exige, modello nato grazie all’esperienza maturata proprio *** le Motorsport, impiegate in un campionato monomarca in Inghilterra; le auto che correvano in questo monomarca avevano il posto di guida centrale, peculiarità che ne vietava l’uso in classe GT: per questo motivo l’esemplare in oggetto venne specificamente ordinato *** la guida a sinistra.
Sono 19 gli esemplari *** posto di guida a sinistra, 16 *** guida a destra e le rimanenti 24 *** posto di guida centrale: delle guida a sinistra 12 vennero vendute negli USA, un paio in Giappone, due in Italia e le rimanenti in Inghilterra.
Le due auto italiane, tra cui questa, ottenuta l’omologazione in GT poterono dimostrare l’ottimo potenziale della piccola inglese: il motore Rover K 1800 venne portato ad una potenza di 200 cavalli e, abbinato ad un cambio ravvicinato a innesti frontali *** differenziale autobloccante, spingeva al limite l’Elise *** il suo peso inferiore a 700 kg. L’auto usciva *** il rollbar integrato, cerchi leggeri in alluminio, vetri laterali e parabrezza in Perspex, alettone posteriore in carbonio e splitter anteriore maggiorato, ripartitore di frenata, strumentazione Stack *** acquisizione dati, sedile originale Recaro Lotus Sport *** cintura a 6 punti, volante MOMO originale removibile, impianto d’estinzione *** comandi interni ed esterni integrati oltre ad uno specifico scarico sportivo. Come si evince dal certificato d'origine, il cliente ha fornito a Lotus Sport il serbatoio di sicurezza in gomma ed il kit per la doppia ***** freni.
Ancora *** la sua prima vernice e tutti i componenti di primo equipaggiamento, l’auto viene consegnata *** il certificato d’origine Lotus, il contratto d’acquisto e la documentazione delle gare svolte.
