Description
Fancy a bit of nostalgia? This Peugeot 205 GTi is an absolute belter.
So whats her story......?
ChasingCarsUk always have a few cars onsite that have been bought with a view of sorting in any down time. We acquired the vehicle back in 2019, she had had a huge amount of work done to her, all tastefully, and was becoming a really nice car. The previous owner had bought it from a deceased estate and she had been stood for quite a while, the good news is that it was a very dry location and was presented to me with no rust and a seemingly fresh paint job even though that had been done many years before. It needed quite a few bits doing to get he complete, but regrettably the gent was forced into the sale after he was informed he was going to loose his storage workshop, so had made the decision to change his status from semi to fully retired.
On and off we have spent the time to make her what you see today. In fact 90% was done in the first year until we hit a most annoying problem..... People who know these cars are aware that the idle can be rough and bouncy, especially when cold..... but she was determined to be stubborn..... so back to basics.....
Fully serviced including cam belt. - Oil and filter changed. - Air filters. - Spark plugs. - Aux Belt. - Initially cleaned and replace the injectors and seals. Yet the idle was still being a problem. Air flow meter sent for refurbishment, checked, replaced all the pipework and yet the idle was still the problem. Compression test - very good, leak down test - spot on........ So after many hours, we recognised a brain failure - idle air control valve - rebuilt with a kit direct from Germany and YAY!!
What a little pocket rocket!! Now I remember why I like them!!
Starts, stops, changes gear and corners as you'd hope. A very bright car, clean, tidy inside and out. It isn't brand new, it isn't a car that is going to win at Pebble Beach, by far a car that you can jump in, drive, and not be scared of driving through a dust storm at 20mph..... WIll turn the heads at shows and as you drive through you're local town or village!
By appointment only please. part exchanges welcome..... feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have!
