Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. Introduced to the motoring public at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 488 GTB was an extensively revised and re-engined development of the preceding 458. It was historically significant on two counts, firstly as Ferrari's first turbocharged mid-engined model since the iconic F40, being powered by a blown 3. 9-litre V8 and secondly, reviving nomenclature from its past V12s, Ferrari took the car's name from the volume of an individual cylinder, in this case 488cc.
Although its aluminium monocoque underpinnings were similar to those of the 458, the 488's new bodywork was radically changed, generating 50% more speed-generated downforce yet with decreased drag, much of this improvement being achieved by under-body developments resulting from many hours in their F1 wind tunnel.
And for those not satisfied with the regular 488's phenomenal performance, there was the Pista (track) version - influenced by the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge models. In Pista specification the extensively uprated engine produced 710bhp and 568lb/ ft of torque, while the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox shifted ratios even faster than before when in Race mode. The Pista body incorporated numerous changes aimed at improving air flow and increasing downforce, the suspension was uprated and the new car also benefited from Ferrari's Side-slip Angle Control system. Increased use of carbon fibre, both inside and out, helped reduce weight by 200lb (91kg) compared to the original 488 GTB and the Pista now offered 0-62mph in 2. 85 seconds and a top speed of 211mph.
Released on the eve of the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hour race to celebrate Ferrari's success with the GTE 488 at that iconic circuit, the 488 Pista Piloti was a special limited-edition, only available to purchase by those clients that raced with Ferrari, either in the Challenge or the ** Programme. Completed through their Tailor Made programme, these cars carried a race livery inspired by the AF Corse Le Mans racers, a unique race number on the car's sides, and are undoubtedly the ultimate iteration of these incredible 488. Only four colours were offered on the Piloti, Argento Nürburgring, Nero Daytona, Blu Tour De France, and Rosso Corsa and, with only around 40 examples believed to have been made worldwide for invited customers, the Piloti is one of the most exclusive 488 Pista variants ever produced.
This very special UK-supplied car has had just two owners from new, covering a mere 575 miles at the time of cataloguing, and presents as you would expect for such a nominal mileage. Finished in the elegant and highly desirable Argento Nürburgring, the exterior offers a more understated and sophisticated take on the Pista Piloti’s race-inspired character, perfectly complemented by a Nero Alcantara interior that delivers a purposeful yet luxurious cockpit environment.
The car benefits from an extensive factory specification with the option and special equipment list having been well ticked. Many of these can be seen in our images and a full list can be provided upon request. Highlights include a suspension lifter, extensive application of Carbon Fibre, Titanium exhaust pipes, Apple CarPlay and Carbon Fibre Racing seats (large size seats+ racing seat lifter).
What truly sets this example apart is the substantial additional investment made by its first owner, post-delivery. The car is now fitted with ultra-desirable carbon fibre wheels at a cost of approximately £35, 000 and carbon fibre exterior mirrors were also installed at a cost of circa £9, 000, with the original mirrors retained and included in the sale.
With its exceptionally low mileage, outstanding specification, and significant additional investment, this right-hand drive Pista Piloti represents a highly collectable, investment-grade Ferrari, equally suited to the most discerning enthusiast or collector.
