Our private vendor purchased this overhead camshaft model in 2015. It had been sold new and registered in Glasgow in 1957 with the index number KSD 310. Purchased by his father, it was intended for the son, Felix Darroch, to use the machine in 200cc class racing, and to this end he purchased a 194cc cylinder barrel and piston. The engine was dismantled to carry out the work, but never completed by the first owner. Felix subsequently emigrated to Canada and the bike languished unused in his father's garage until it was necessary to clear it. The CS was sold to the present owner by the family, and he set about to complete the work started decades before. It was decided to strip and rebuild the engine, and it was found to be in very good condition throughout, and a reflection of the machine believed to have done no more than the mileage recorded on the odometer. However, although not needed, the vendor advises that he replaced the bearings and cam chain as a matter of course. The flywheel assembly had been polished and balanced. He also renewed the wiring and replaced the ignition coil and points with a German electronic ignition system by Power Dynamo at a cost of £412 (invoice on file). The original registration KSD 310 had unfortunately lapsed, and DVLA would not re-allocate it without documentary evidence, so it was given the present age-related number. Following completion of the work in 2016, the MV has been used only for local VMCC club nights and events. Last run in November 2025 the owner's advancing years and domestic commitments have prompted its present sale. Accordingly, the machine should require only light re-commissioning and basic safety checks before taking to the road with a new owner. Various spare parts accompany the machine, including a camshaft assembly. Documentation comprises a current V5C, a quantity of invoices/ receipts, dating certificates from the VMCC and MV Owners Club, DVLA correspondence, and sundry papers.
