The production model Audi TT (internal designation Type 8N) was launched as a Coupé in September, 1998, followed by a Roadster in August, 1999. It was based on the Volkswagen Group A4 (PQ34) platform, as used for the Volkswagen Golf Mk. IV, the original Audi A3, the Skoda Octavia, and others. Factory production commenced in October, 1998. The Audi TT was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award for 2000. It was also on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 2000 and 2001.
This Audi TT is very well-preserved at twenty years old, thanks to the two lady owners who have taken care of it across its life. It was built to a desirable specification, with the 1. 8-litre turbocharged straight-four, the six-speed manual transmission and the Quattro four-wheel drive system, plus 18in. alloy wheels, sports front seats, a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, and power steering. The present owner acquired it in 2009 and has kept it in continuous use, though in recent times its mileage has been restricted to just a few hundred miles a year, so that the present mileage is now just a little under 60, 000.
In light of that, it is not surprising that it should be in suchseemingly good condition, and it both ran and drove well during our recent photography session. It has been MOTed annually since 2009, and the current MOT with no advisories is valid until September, 2026. In addition to the V5C, it is supplied with the original owner’s manual and operating instructions, as well as the private registration ‘TT06 KYM’, which is surely the ideal plate for a TT enthusiast.
