Exterior / Body:
The car presented here is an ALFA ROMEO Spider 1300 Junior from January 1973 in its original colour “Argento metallisé 767” (matching colour).
The body is in very good presentation condition.
It underwent a full restoration a few years ago.
The paintwork shows a uniform shade and excellent gloss.
After a professional polish performed at the workshop’s orbital buffer, we noted a few tiny paint chips on the driver’s door edge and on the left rear wing edge.
We also noted a few minor dings on the doors.
The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good original condition.
We noted a slight deformation on the top chrome around the driver and passenger.
The PVC soft-top in colour “Nero” is in very good original condition with no tears or sagging.
The rear window mica is fully supple and translucent despite minor micro-scratches and a small cut at the lower-right corner.
The hooding is easy to operate and its seal remains compliant with era norms.
This exemplar features a cap-hood cover in faux leather in colour “Nero” in perfect condition.
The four original 14’’ ALFA ROMEO sheet-metal wheels are in good condition, as are their four stainless wheel trims.
The front tyres will be replaced with new units before delivery.
The rear Falken tyres show 15% wear.
The original 14’’ spare wheel and its jack are present in the boot’s tub.
Among the notable exterior equipment and options this car features are: the four 14’’ original wheels, chrome mirrors, and the faux leather cap-hood cover in colour “Nero”.
Interior:
The faux leather upholstery in colour “Bordeaux” with matching stitching is in good original condition.
The door panels in faux leather in colour “Bordeaux” are in perfect condition.
The tops of the door cards show some small cracks.
The dashboard cap in faux leather in colour “Nero” is in perfect condition, with no cracks.
The dashboard in colour “Grigio” is in good condition, aside from a small scratch near the driver.
The original VEGLIA BORLETTI instrument cluster is fully functional.
The original ALFA ROMEO wood steering wheel is in good condition, as is the wooden gear knob.
The period BLAUPUNKT radio is fully functional.
ALFA ROMEO rubber floor mats are in good condition.
Among the interior features and options of interest for this example are:
The Bordeaux faux leather upholstery with matching door panels and the three-spoke wood steering wheel by ALFA ROMEO.
Chassis:
Lifting it onto the ramp confirms a healthy shell with no signs of accident damage or structural corrosion.
The basics: floors, sills, wheel arches, spare wheel well and wheel housings are in good condition.
We noted a historical repair trace on the driver’s floor.
As a rule we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond what is visually and functionally validated on road test and on the ramp.
During the dynamic test we detected no abnormal rattling from the body or suspension components (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Road-holding is improved thanks to 4 Bilstein shock absorbers.
Braking is balanced and aligned, its effectiveness remains in line with era standards.
Brake discs show 30% wear on the front and 50% wear on the rear.
Brake pads show 10% wear at the front and 20% at the rear.
A pre-delivery technical inspection will confirm proper operation of the whole system.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanicals are working perfectly.
The aluminium 1300 double-overhead-cam engine runs perfectly.
The four-cylinder starts immediately, with no smoke or suspicious noises and the idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video with the engine running available at the start of the slideshow.
On the move, the engine revs smoothly without hiccups or overheating.
Oil pressure measured hot by our workshop is 2. 5 bar at 800 rpm.
We noted some signs of rubbing on the lower sump.
The five gears of the manual gearbox shift easily except for the second gear synchroniser during fast driving.
The bite of the clutch is good.
As is common with these models, the engine/ gearbox/ diff seals are only average.
