1996 ROVER MINI COOPER '35TH ANNIVERSARY' 1 OF ONLY 200 - FOR RECOMMISSIONINGThe 1996 Rover Mini Cooper 35th Anniversary Edition is a rare, limited-production model built to celebrate 35 years of the Mini Cooper (1961–1996). Only 1, 701 units were produced globally, with just 200 originally allocated for the UK market. This model is powered by the classic 'A-series' engine with modern updates for the time, including single point fuel injection(SPi). SpecificationEngine 1, 275cc 4-cylinder in-linePower Output 62 bhp @ 5, 700 rpmMax Torque 78 lb/ ft @ 3, 250 rpmTransmission 4-speed manualPerformance 0–60 mph in 11. 0 seconds; Top speed 97 mphWheels 12" Charcoal/ Gunmetal grey Minilite-style alloysSignature Styling:The 35th Anniversary Edition is most recognisable by its specific 'heritage' colour scheme: Exterior: Finished in Almond Green with a contrasting Diamond White roof and bonnet stripes. (Note: Flame Red was also available for the Japanese market). Features: '35th Anniversary' decals on the rear side panels and boot lid. Lighting: Standard fitment of four auxiliary driving lamps on the front grille. Interior & Luxury: The cabin was upgraded to be more luxurious than the standard Cooper of that era. Upholstery: Full Porcelain Green leather seats with cream or ivory piping. Trim: A full-width Burr Walnut dashboard with a matching gear knob and leather-wrapped steering wheel featuring an anniversary badge. Comfort: Japanese-market imports often include factory-fitted air conditioning, which was a rare option for UK models at the time. Market Availability: Because the vast majority of these cars were exported to Japan, many 'UK' examples today are highly sough after given that only 100 of the original 200 are left either on the road or SORN. This example is in 'barn find' condition. Last MOT in 2016 at 98337 miles. The current mileage showing as 02723 so likely just 4400 odd miles covered since. The vehicle will want full recommissioning as there is the obligatory rot and rust on the subframe. However, with a new battery, the vehicle will start and run and forms the basis of a superb restoration project for what is already a singularly rare car. Offered without reserve with a sensible estimate of £1500 to £2000- try finding another…!This vehicle is located near Upper Stowe, Northamptonshire from where it will need to be collected.
