Body / Exterior:
The model presented here is an AC Cobra 427 replica assembled by BACKDRAFT Racing in its original colour scheme (Black / Stripe Grey) (matching colours).
The polyester shell is free of cracks or non-compliant repair marks.
After a polish with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noted minor grain on the front face and rear wings.
The chrome bumper end caps have been replaced by the famous chrome “Quick jacks” to emphasise the car’s racing look.
The original chrome Roll bar is in perfect condition. A co-pilot roll bar has been added to also ensure passenger safety. This is like-new.
The wind deflectors installed along the sides of the windscreen contribute to improved on-road comfort. They are like-new.
This car is equipped with the “Rain Pack” option including a full soft top + hoops, a tonneau cover and two side screens. The whole is in excellent condition.
The four Halibrand-style wheels in 15” are in good condition with no scratches and will be fitted with four new tyres before delivery.
Among the notable exterior/ body equipment on this model are the wind deflectors, Le Mans-style fuel cap in Black, tonneau cover in Black imitation leather and the headlight grilles.
Interior:
The interior retains its strict original configuration. The overall appearance is near-new.
The grey leather upholstery with matching piping is in good condition; we note wear marks on the outer bolster of the original driver’s seat. The matching grey leather door panels and the dashboard are also near-new.
All original AUTOMETER instruments are fully functional.
The 3-spoke aluminium/ wood COBRA steering wheel and the aluminium “BDR” gear knob are in perfect condition.
The original grey carpets are protected by BACKDRAFT-branded mats; overall in excellent condition with no wear or fading.
This car also features a battery cut-off, a fire extinguisher and two CROW safety harnesses keeping the period look.

Chassis:
The car on the hoist confirms a tubular chassis and a bodywork free of visible accident or structural corrosion.
The fundamentals – sills, floors, rocker panels, wheel arches and tubular frame – are in excellent condition.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles were noted from the body or suspension components (track rods, bushings, etc.).
Usage reserve: by principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their visually and functionally validated condition during on-road test and on the hoist.
Handling is improved by the installation of four Bilstein shock absorbers.
Braking is balanced, stable and progressive, with no vibration or unusual noises.
Front discs show 40% wear and rear discs 25% wear.
Pads show 25% wear at the front and 30% at the rear.
A pre-delivery technical inspection by our workshop will confirm everything is in good working order.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanicals operate perfectly.
Compression checks and road test by our workshop confirm an engine in excellent health.
The FORD Racing V8 starts at the touch, with no unusual noises or smoke, and idle is stable, as shown in the 360° video with the engine running at the start of the slideshow.
Oil pressure at cold start is 6 bar at 1, 000 rpm.
This car is equipped with an additional electric cooling fan to reduce the risk of overheating.
On the move, power and speed build up smoothly and steadily, albeit very aggressively given the power-to-weight ratio.
Despite a relatively firm clutch, the Tremec T5 5-speed gearbox engages smoothly, especially the synchros.
The clutch grip is excellent.
Among the engine components on this car are: 4-into-1 exhaust headers, functional side pipes, heat-exchanger grilles, HOLLEY 4-barrel carburettor, sport air filter, FORD Racing cylinder head covers, MSD Blaster ignition, and chrome alternator.
