EXTERIOR
The sweeping lines of this rare modern classic, infamous for its looks, do not disappoint. With a deep shine to the Silver paint, the bodywork is offset markedly by CS-specific bodywork including the carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof and composite bonnet / vent shared with the GT4 racing cars.
Sporting its recognisable black grille and front wing inserts the car still remains as fresh as you would expect given the mileage with a first class finish; perfectly accentuating the style and aggression of this compact sports coupe. In addition, the rear Gurney flap and front splitter are bespoke to this mega M Power example.
Along with the drop in ride height, the roof panel lowers the car’s centre of gravity and also stiffens the shell contributing to razor sharp dynamics for both road and track.
INTERIOR
The cabin will feel familiar to fans of the M2 although the leather and alcantara bucket seats are bespoke items accompanied by cut outs to the backrests and finished with M Motif’s; similar to those found on the legendary E30 Sport Evo’s. The optional electric seats present in impeccable condition and are incredibly supportive and supple thanks to an increase in padding over the Comp variant.
The infinite seat adjustments work alongside a manually adjustable steering column in order to accomplish the perfect driving position for all shapes and sizes. The intuitive I-drive system is as reliable and robust as usual with all the mod cons available through iphone / android connectivity too.
Further marking out the CS is the the Alcantara dashboard covering and a carbon fibre transmission tunnel casing, which weighs half that of the standard plastic piece in the Competition.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With 444bhp, the monstrous S55 makes 40bhp more than the Competition variant, with the power curve peaking slightly further up the rev range and peak torque arriving at just 2, 350rpm. The result is a formidable breadth of performance thanks to the enormous flexibility of the engine and the tactile 6 speed manual box.
The CS marks the first time an M2 has been furnished with M’s multi-mode adaptive suspension and alongside the modified Active M Differential / M Dynamic mode there are plenty of opportunities to explore the stunning chassis.
All of the refinements to engine and dynamics make the CS a very special and engaging M car; it can be both refined or rowdy – a superb one car solution that does it all.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The forged Y-spoke wheels are also new and lighter than those of the Competition, and allied with altered suspension geometry steering response and feel is transformed. Michelin Pilot SuperSports adorn all four corners showing plenty of tread depth.
This example is fitted with the mighty ceramic brake option with M branded Gold callipers showing behind the jet black spokes.
