Description
This is one of the last examples of this model which was manufactured between 1936 and 1938. The 25/ 30 has the larger 4257cc engine, which developed approximately 103 BHP. The car was ordered and chassis construction began in January 1938 for a Mr Peter Yates, an importer of Australian wines in the 1920s and 30s. The chassis was delivered to northern coachbuilders Joseph Cockshoot on the 19th of June 1938. The body was completed on September 3, 1938 and Mr Yates kept the car until his death in 1944.
Originally fitted with a rear partition and painted all Black, the change to the present configuration was made whilst in Canada and the United States between 1972 and 2009, when it returned to the UK. Purchased in 2018 by the family friend of one of our clients for over £50, 000, including the fitment of a desirable overdrive option. It then embarked on an expensive program of improvement work with well-known RR specialists all of which is detailed in its very extensive history file. Both power steering and air-conditioning which had been fitted overseas were removed during this process.
EVR 555 essentially benefitted from £40, 000 of investment over five years before first coming to us in 2024. We quickly sold the Rolls Royce for £30, 000 and due to some minor paint imperfections, the recent owner spent £19000 with Fisher Restorations ensuring the car has a wonderful paint finish. The car now returns to us in stunning condition, the interior is exceptionally good and the car performs well with very good oil pressure and a quiet gearbox. It has been fitted with an electric fan to aid cooling and an alternator. A great deal of expense has been incurred in sorting out steering and suspension components. With more than £100, 000 invested over the past seven years it comes complete with a huge history file, ownership history, owners, manual and spare keys. This beautiful prewar coachbuilt Rolls-Royce has to represent an a fantastic buy at our sensible asking price.
