Exterior / Body:
The model shown here is a January 1966 Mustang Convertible in its era ‘Blue Metallic’ colour.
The overall presentation is very good. The body received a full repaint in 2012.
It displays excellent gloss and depth.
After a professional polish performed by our workshop, a small paint chip at the centre of the bonnet and a small scratch at the front-left edge were noted.
The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition, with no dents or rust.
We noted a slight scuff on the rear bumper and on the driver-side lower body moulding.
The grille shows no oxidation or deformation.
The electric PVC hood in black is in good condition despite a small tear on the left-hand side.
The rear screen mica appears slightly dulled but has no cracks or breaks.
The operation of the electric hood and its seal are as original.
The blue faux leather tonneau cover is in as-new condition.
The 4 14" steel wheels are equipped with their original stainless Mustang hubcaps.
Overall, the presentation is very good.
The 4 whitewall tyres show 10% wear on the front and 50% on the rear.
This example also retains its original spare wheel and jack.
Among the exterior/ equipment options worth noting: blue tonneau cover and black PVC electric hood.
Interior:
Blue faux leather interior retains its original layout: bench seats, individual seats and door panels are in good condition.
The dashboard is in perfect condition, with no scratches or cracks on the top cap.
The matching rear inside panels are in excellent condition.
Rear side trims show a few light scratches.
The instrumentation cluster is fully functional.
As with many this model, the original ventilation/ heating unit is no longer functional.
The original FORD radio is no longer functional but retained for aesthetics.
The original bakelite steering wheel is in excellent condition.
The gear lever knob shows patina.
Original FORD aluminium door sills are in good condition.
Blue boucle carpets in original spec are in excellent condition.
This car is fitted with 2-point aviation-style seat belts on both front and rear.
Among interior equipment of interest, the 2-point aviation-style seat belts are noted.
Chassis:
Lift onto the chassis confirms a solid bodyshell with no visible accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.
Fundamentals: sills, floor pans, wing bottoms, boot floor and wheel arches are in very good condition.
Usage reserve: as a matter of principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional state validated during road testing and lifting onto the ramp.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles were noted from the body or suspension components (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Braking remains stable and balanced, though not very strong on Mustangs originally fitted with four drums.
The technical inspection conducted by our workshop prior to delivery will confirm overall functionality.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics operate perfectly.
The engine was removed and fully rebuilt in 2024 by a specialist (invoice €15, 540).
During this, items replaced included: block machining, crankshaft repair, 8-cylinder rebore, cam bearing/ pushrod wear replacement, valve guides, valve seats, 8 pistons and rings, oil pump and pick-up, water pump and crank pulley, timing kit, flywheel bolts and rocker arms.
Compression tests and a road test by our workshop confirm a healthy V8.
Starting is immediate with no unusual noises or smoke and idle is stable, as shown in the 360° video with the engine running at the start of the slideshow.
Reliability is improved by a new starter, 12V coil and distributor (invoice available).
The exhaust silencer was recently replaced and the AUTOLITE carburettor in 2025 (invoice available).
During driving the engine revs smoothly with no hesitation or overheating.
The manual gearbox shifts through all 3 gears without issues.
Clutch bite is good.
This car is fitted with a battery cut-off switch.
As with many classic engines, engine/ gearbox seals are only average.
