If you’re in the know, you will already know that the VFR750 is the best bike Honda ever built – unrivalled build-quality, and 100, 000 miles no problem (with regular servicing). The “chocolate camshaft” issue on the earlier VF models almost sunk Honda, so the VFR brief was to build an all-new bullet-proof V4 to the highest standard regardless of cost. The Honda engineers certainly achieved their goal with the VFR, but due to the very high build quality and cost, they lost money on every VFR750 they sold. However, the VFR project was a success, because it rescued Honda’s reputation, and largely created the Honda reliability legend that persists to this day.
This particular VFR is a “Gen 2” UK bike, registered in May 1990 – it’s the last of the double-sided swing arm models, which have 17-inch wheels front & rear and are about 20kg lighter than the single-sided swing arm “Gen 3” models that followed.
In terms of condition, this bike is first-class all-round and is certainly one of the best examples available on the market.
The bike starts, runs and rides perfectly, there are no known faults/ issues, and a new MOT can be provided once a sale is agreed.
The bike has had 6 former keepers in total, but the current owner has had the bike for 3. 5 years and previous owner had it for 10 years.
The bike comes with 2 keys, the original owner’s handbook, a factory workshop manual, a comprehensive service history file going back to 2013, and all of the old MOTs going back to 1998 (5596 miles).
The bike had a big service at 15860 miles – this included valve clearances, carbs balanced, new coolant, etc.
The bike is original and unrestored, and benefits from… Newly powder-coated wheels with new bearings & tyres, new chain & sprockets, new lithium battery, a Wilbers rear shock, new K-tech 8. 5N/ mm fork springs and fork oil, stainless steel exhaust collector box, original silencers in excellent condition, and disabled anti-dive (anti-dive can easily be refitted if required – original parts included).
The following original parts are not currently fitted but they are all present and included… Centre stand (includes all bolts, spacers, springs, etc.), adjustable screen, and anti-dive valve.
