A comprehensively restored Mini Cooper Mk1 to fast road / rally specification with genuine 1990’s competition success.
Starting life as a 997cc Cooper, it now boasts a substantially modified 1380cc engine producing 126BHP. The engine was with a 1275cc block which was bored out to 1380cc and included the following spec: 73. 5mm Omega offset pistons, 1275 turbo ***-rods, reground 1275 turbo crank (polished and balanced), Piper 694+ Camshaft timed at 100 degrees, competition cam followers, stage 5 cylinder head which was gas flowed and reshaped and given a 11. 5. 1 compression ratio, 37mm inlet valves, 31mm exhaust valves, competition grade double valve springs, Jack Knight 1. 5 full roller rockers, SH HS4 1. 5” carbs with upgraded spindles, butterflies and float bowls, Minispares Vernier adjustable cam belt drive kit, A&H 1. 5l catch tank.
The gearbox uses an original 22G1128 all synchro casing with a straight cut gear set, competition bulk rings and a centre oil pickup, as well as Hardy Spicer output shafts, heavy duty Minispares molybdendum cross-pin differential, semi helical crown wheel and pinion (52x15, 3. 44:1), fast road / rally clutchplate, lightweight pressure plate and flywheel, and MED Engineering competition flywheel to crankshaft steel bolts.
As you can see from just the engine and gearbox specification, this mini has been prepared with a ‘no-expense spared’ attitude, and the same can be said for the quality of the bodywork, and the suspension setup. The fit and finish are just superb, and it drives even better!
The car competed in many rally events through the 1990’s, but most notably finished 1
st
