The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 is one of the most charismatic modern limited-production Jaguars: a car that combined SVO engineering, D-Type-inspired design drama and the last great era of supercharged V8 Jaguar performance into a genuinely collectible road car.
Created by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations division, the Project 7 was limited to just 250 cars worldwide (80 for the UK) and, at launch, was the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar yet, with a 5. 0-litre supercharged V8 producing 575PS, 0–60mph in 3. 8 seconds and a top speed of 186mph. Its purpose was clear from the outset: this was not simply a trimmed-up F-Type, but a low-volume, driver-focused celebration of Jaguar’s competition history, created in the 60th anniversary year of the D-Type that inspired its signature rear aero haunch.
Finished in Ultimate Black with black leather, this example has perhaps the most menacing and understated specification available for the model. Where the brighter Project 7 colours emphasise the car’s retro competition character, Ultimate Black gives it a sharper, more serious presence. The aftermarket yellow graphics add contrast, while the unique bodywork, cut-down windscreen, driver’s fairing, carbon aerodynamic details and fixed rear spoiler to do the talking.
On the road, the Project 7 occupies a special position in the F-Type story. It delivers the familiar theatre of Jaguar’s supercharged V8 - huge torque, explosive throttle response and one of the great modern exhaust notes but with a far more focused edge than the standard Convertible. Wider intent, sharper chassis tuning, carbon-ceramic brakes, torque vectoring, lightweight detailing and SVO calibration make it feel more urgent, more purposeful and more collectible than the series-production cars around it.
For buyers, the appeal is clear: rarity, SVO provenance, unmistakable design, usable performance and a direct link to Jaguar’s most evocative racing heritage.
In Ultimate Black, the Project 7 feels less like a nostalgic tribute and more like a modern collector’s weapon. Dramatic, scarce, beautifully resolved and increasingly hard to replace.
