A compulsory fee of £195 + VAT will be added to the buyer's invoice for this service. This Lot may not be collected from the auction venue by the purchaser or any third-party transporter until Shippio Ltd has confirmed that this Lot has cleared customs.

One of Germany's lesser known marques, Adler is best remembered for its advanced two-stroke motorcycles of the 1950s. Although designed as a road-going power unit, Adler's unitary construction air-cooled twin proved highly tuneable, enabling Adler-mounted privateers to achieve significant results in national-level road races and even the occasional international success. Interestingly, Yamaha is known to have studied an Adler MB250 before embarking on the design of its own 250cc twin. Sadly, the Adler company was taken over by Grundig in 1958 and its factory turned over to typewriter production.

This Adler MB250 had already been restored when it was acquired for the vendor's important overseas collection in 1996 (see correspondence on file). Currently displaying a total of only 3 miles to the odometer, the machine features a Denfield front saddle and a Lepper pillion saddle, the latter being perished. The only accompanying key is for the headlamp.

Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning and/ or restoration to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's completeness, history, authenticity, originality and mechanical condition prior to bidding.

£2, 000 - 3, 000

All lots are sold ‘as is/ where is’ and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
