The Silver Spur was the moniker adopted by Rolls-Royce for the long wheelbase versions of the Silver Spirit, and belonged to a new generation of models that also included that marque's Flying Spur, Silver Dawn, Touring Limousine and Park Ward, and the Mulsanne and Eight Series models of its sister company, Bentley. Penned by Fritz Feller, the range was first represented at the 1980 Paris Salon and was a welcome replacement for the long-serving Silver Shadow and its siblings. The design was not entirely new, however, and employed the floorpan of the outgoing model as well as its proven OHV 6750cc V8 powerplant. The opulent newcomer was lower and longer than its predecessor though and, courtesy of its finely-tuned hydraulic self-levelling suspension, was said to provide the best roadholding ever offered by the marque at that time. There were a total of four iterations of the range, via which the models remained in production until 1998.
Supplied new in 1983 by HR Owen, main distributors for Rolls Royce and Bentley in London, this Silver Spur is finished in special order Pewter over Dark Oyster Metallic with twin Gold hand painted coach lines. The interior is finished in Ivory Beige hide with hide headlining, lower roll in matching Ivory Beige hide and top roll finished in black hide. Luxury deep pile lambs wool over rugs and an extra cost option, fitted burr walnut veneer rear picnic tables, complete the cabin. Boasting the original Blaupunkt Toronto stereo radio cassette player and still retaining its original factory fitted front fog light covers, this one off motor car costing, £64, 952 new, as confirmed by the accompanying original bill of sale, sold to an address in Grosvenor Square, London. To date it has completed only c. 34, 915 miles from new, and was owned by the same family for a long period of time. Offered with cherished registration number ‘95 NKT’ it comes with lots of maintenance history, a new MOT to May 2027 has recently been obtained with no advisories, 4 brand new tyres fitted and the carburettors recently refurbished.
