The Aprilia RS250 was one of the most legendary road-going two-stroke sportbikes ever made. Produced from 1995 to 2002, it was essentially a race-replica motorcycle inspired by Aprilia’s dominant 250cc Grand Prix racing program. The RS250 used a heavily modified version of Suzuki’s RGV250 VJ22 249cc 90° V-twin two-stroke engine. Aprilia added its own ECU mapping, airbox, cylinders, and exhaust system, creating a bike that combined Japanese engine reliability with an exceptionally refined Italian chassis. The RS250 wasn’t about outright horsepower. Compared with modern middleweight sportbikes, it was slow in a straight line. But what made it magical was that it was extremely light weight, it had razor-sharp handling, race-bike ergonomics, explosive two-stroke powerband & an incredible sound and smell. Many riders describe it as one of the most visceral motorcycles ever built.
