Well-preserved example for light recommissioning
After leaving Harley-Davidson, Erik Buell started building his own bikes in 1985, and so began a tradition of putting Harley-Davidson’s powerful V-twins into frames intended for a sportier kind of riding. The XB9R Firebolt was launched in the early 2000s with the 984cc Harley Sportster engine, but owners wanted more from the engine, and so the XB12R Firebolt arrived in 2003, featuring a 1, 203cc engine. Producing 103bhp, the XB12R delivered punchy performance, but still boasted the sharp and agile chassis for which Buells are revered. Production ended in 2010, but not before at least one road tester had pronounced it “the best sportbike ever built by Buell.”
A fairly rare machine in Great Britain, this XB12R Firebolt was purchased new by our vendor in 2005, and he rode it enthusiastically but sparingly up to 2025, covering just over 22, 000 miles. As one would expect, it is a very well-preserved machine, and the vendor describes it as “good” in all areas. Unfortunately, other commitments forced the vendor to stop riding it last year, hence some light recommissioning may be required before it goes back on the road. It is supplied with the current V5C.
