Weighing just 1, 070kg it had perfect weight distribution with ride and handling honed by Lotus (aided by ex-F1 and development driver Dan Gurney). The race car feel continued with a short-throw gearchange, razor-sharp throttle control and immediate response to steering input. The result was a blisteringly intense driving experience instantly familiar to a Porsche 911 or Ferrari F355 driver – yet at a fraction of the price. With origami-inspired folded angular lines, it looked great and was immensely strong with no fewer than five bulkheads between the different compartments. Good ones are increasingly collectable today. Supplied by J. B. Husselbee of Stourbridge in May 1989, this MR2 was subsequently sold through Pinkstones Toyota Stoke on Trent and has seemingly spent 20 years in storage with an MOT on file in 1996 at just over 18, 000 miles. Today it wears Just c. 18, 700 miles from new. In very original condition throughout, the interior has aged wonderfully. Due to be benefiting from refreshment to the exterior by the vendor in time for sale it is offered with book pack, historic MOT’s, service history and V5C. ** Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via our H&H website, by telephone and commission - T&Cs apply** Entry by catalogue and can be purchased for £20 (admits 2 people)
