Stratus Grey over Black Leather with Red Stitching
A particularly well-preserved early example of the F-Type R Coupé, finished in the elegant and relatively uncommon Stratus Grey over a black leather interior with contrasting red stitching.
This car is highly optioned from new, most notably with the desirable Carbon Ceramic Matrix braking system, and retains its complete original window sticker (visible in the gallery). With just 33, 000 miles from new, the car presents in remarkably strong condition — both cosmetically and mechanically.
Collectors and enthusiasts increasingly regard the 2015 R Coupé as the purest expression of the early F-Type formula: rear-wheel drive, hydraulic power steering, and the newly introduced 550 hp supercharged V8, free of the later all-wheel-drive systems, electric steering, and progressive modernization that followed. Subsequent R models gained power, all-weather capability, and refined technology, yet many prefer the analog character and driving sensation of these first-year high-output Coupés.
Model History:
Introduced in late 2013 as Jaguar’s spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type, the F-Type was built around an all-aluminum structure and initially offered as a convertible only. The Coupé arrived for the 2015 model year, and with it the new range-topping R, powered by a 550 hp supercharged 5. 0-litre V8 driving the rear wheels.
These early R Coupés remain highly regarded for their pure RWD layout, hydraulic power steering, and relatively unfiltered driving character — attributes that were progressively diluted from 2016 onward with the introduction of all-wheel drive, electric steering, and later performance upgrades. The 2015 R Coupé therefore occupies a distinct and increasingly appreciated position in the F-Type lineage: the first high-output hardtop and the cleanest expression of the original analog formula.
A clean, low-mileage, properly optioned example of the model many consider the definitive early F-Type R.
