Description
The name refers to the ninetieth anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari. That is no coincidence: the SF90 Stradale is the first Ferrari to bring hybrid knowledge straight from Formula 1 onto the public road. The 4. 0 litre twin-turbo V8 produces 780 ps on its own, three electric motors bring the total to 1, 000 ps. Two of those sit on the front axle, making the SF90 the first mid-engined Ferrari with all-wheel drive. Above 217 km/ h that front axle decouples and all battery power goes to the rear, where it belongs. On the left of the steering wheel, alongside the familiar manettino, a second control appeared: the eManettino, a touch pad you press to select the entire powertrain mode, from pure electric to everything at once.
Fun fact: in eDrive the SF90 runs on the front axle alone. A front-wheel-drive Ferrari, silent, for up to 25 km. After that the V8 takes over and none of that restraint remains.
