The Kougar Sports Roadster is a British roadster built with a clear vision: to combine the classic design of the 1930s with powerful technology from later decades. It was created in the 1970s as one of the few kit cars to rely on high-quality technical foundations—especially Jaguar components—and authentic sporting proportions. Its long bonnet, low-slung body and open cockpit make it look more like a pre-war racing special than a product of the second half of the 20th century. Nevertheless, it is not a mere replica novelty—the Kougar established a reputation from the outset as a properly engineered machine for drivers seeking a pure, mechanical experience without unnecessary compromises. This particular example, dating from 1981, was imported from the USA in 2019 and subsequently underwent a thorough restoration completed in 2021. Under the bonnet is the legendary 3, 781 cc Jaguar XK6 inline-six, which has undergone a complete overhaul with new Mahle pistons, cylinder liners, timing components, bearings, and an oil pump and water pump from Rob Beere Racing. The car has been fitted with 123 Ignition electronic ignition, new Moroso ignition leads, modified carburettors and a modern Brise alternator. The braking system was rebuilt with four-piston aluminium calipers and EBC Green pads, a new Girling master cylinder and brake booster, Goodridge stainless-steel hoses, and a newly routed clutch system. The suspension was strengthened with polyurethane bushes and custom-tuned dampers and springs. Cooling is provided by a new aluminium radiator with a closed system and Samco silicone hoses. The result is an exceptionally carefully built car that retains the character of a classic British sports car while offering the technical reliability of a thoroughly restored machine.
