A beautifully presented Morris Mini Cooper 998cc, expertly backdated to 1964 specification and finished in the style of a period historic rally car. Originally first registered in May 1992 as a Mini Mayfair, the car was selected for restoration having remained in exceptionally good, rust-free condition. It was subsequently the subject of a comprehensive two-year restoration carried out by a marque specialist, with considerable attention paid to achieving the correct period appearance and specification. Finished in iconic Tartan Red with an Old English White roof panel, the car features red carpets and authentic period-style vinyl seats. The interior is complemented by a works-style secondary dashboard panel and the familiar oval speedometer binnacle. Externally, the attention to detail continues with small rear lights, drop-down rear number plate, chrome bullet wing mirrors, correct moustache grille and six-inch spotlights, creating an authentic period rally appearance. A period-style 'C' registration number completes the overall look particularly well. The car sits on 10-inch Minilite-replica alloy wheels, fitted with nearly new Yokohama tyres, while cross-drilled discs all round provide improved braking performance. Under the bonnet is a freshly rebuilt 998cc engine, correctly equipped with twin SU carburettors, period-style manifold and airbox. Further upgrades include a rally alloy sump shield and stainless-steel centre-exit exhaust, combining improved usability with the character and appearance of a period competition Mini. The result is a beautifully finished little Mini that captures the spirit of the iconic 1960s Cooper and the golden era of British rallying.
