Many were produced and countless have been modified to varying degrees of professionalism, but Abarth itself developed a kit to make the 500 even more aggressive: the EsseEsse kit.
** The car we're offering you, single owner, is one of these official preparations and has been looked after entirely by Forza, a Ferrari and Maserati dealer, which exclusively managed the kits and sale of the 49 500 "Assetto Corsa" cars that featured in the Abarth one-make series.**
** Everything is documented with invoices (over €15, 000 worth of parts), and this 500 Abarth features absolutely rare gems that make it exceptional to drive and a genuine collector's piece.**
Let's start with the alloy wheels: ** they're OZ Leggenda Trofeo 17-inch rims with a 7-inch width, built specifically for the Assetto Corsa models.** To get them there were only two ways: be one of the Teams racing in the one-make series or order them directly from Forza, as in this case. ** Beyond the substantial weight saving from the aluminium and magnesium construction, we find the famous Scorpion badge in relief**, mounted on racing struts and Ergal spacers, all details found only on competition Assetto Corsa models.
** The braking system is another gem available only from Forza: the Brembo GT kit.** The calliper is 4-piston and the disc, of split design, is 284mm but with a thickness of 28mm: excellent heat dissipation but significantly lower unsprung mass.
** Engine-wise we have the EsseEsse kit (on the logbook), BMC "OTA" intake specific to the 500 Abarth and supplied for the R3T cars that competed in rallies, 1. 2 16v cams;** this last modification was done on the "Assetto Corsa" to gain 500 extra engine revs. A dynamically significant refinement is the fitment of a Quaife limited-slip differential and Bilstein B14 suspension. The exhaust is the classic official Abarth "Record Monza".
