A rare and collectible example of Hodaka’s top of the range model, thought to be the 22nd 250 SL off the production line in 1976
Reported to be in good running order and used regularly by the vendor, covering approximately 600 miles during their ownership
Supplied with the original owners manual, current V5C and various invoices for parts and work carried out
Hodaka was a Japanese-American motorcycle brand that particularly well known for producing lightweight, affordable off-road motorcycles during the 1960s and 1970s. The company was formed through a partnership between Pabatco (Pacific Basin Trading Company) in Oregon and the Japanese manufacturer Hodaka Motorcycles, with production taking place in Japan.
Hodaka’s early models gained a strong reputation in the United States for their simple, rugged construction and competitive performance in trail riding and racing. Models such as the Ace 90, Combat Wombat, Super Rat and Dirt Squirt developed a loyal following.
By the 1970s, Hodaka had expanded its range to include larger-capacity machines, including the 250 SL. The 250 SL was Hodaka’s top-of-the-line model at the time and, unlike most of the company’s other machines, was road legal. Its 246cc two-stroke engine was paired with a five-speed transmission and complemented by gas shock absorbers, a quick-change rear wheel, and a 4+ gallon fuel tank.
ODD 325P was purchased by the current vendor in 2023, shortly after being imported into the UK. He subsequently undertook a thorough recommissioning over the following three years, transforming it from a non-running project bike into a presentable example of this rare Japanese-American off-roader. We are told that it is in good running order, with the vendor covering approximately 600 miles during his ownership and taking the bike to local shows and motorcycle meets. It is supplied with the original owner’s manual, a large selection of invoices for parts and work carried out during the restoration, a selection of original parts, and a current V5C.
