There's a sound you won't find anywhere else but under the bonnet of a Bentley from Crewe. Not a brute scream, not theatrical crackling, but a deep and almost civilised growl that you feel more than you hear. As if somewhere up front a giant is clearing his throat and then politely waiting for you to put your foot down. The 6. 75 litre V8 that Bentley has been building since time immemorial isn't an engine. It's an institution. Two turbos, 457 bhp, and enough torque to slow the earth's rotation by a fraction. And all of it in a car you can sit in and drink champagne with four people while your roof gleams in the sun.
The Azure is the open version of the Arnage, and that's exactly where the story gets interesting. Bentley had every right to simply strip the coupé of its roof, slap on a convertible badge and call it a day. They didn't. The Azure is hand-built, with a chassis reinforced to the point where you wonder whether there was any metal left over for the rest of the factory. This is a car whose build time was measured in weeks, not hours. And it shows. It's British craftsmanship at a level German factories only dare to dream about at the Christmas party.
