Five years into the lifecycle of Lamborghini’s flagship Aventador, the Sant’Agata marque revealed the S model to improve on the standard car with both aesthetic and performance upgrades. Lamborghini engineers fine-tuned the V-12 motor, increasing output from 691 to 730 brake horsepower, making for a top speed of 217 mph. The Aventador S gained four-wheel steering, permanent four-wheel drive, and updated suspension. Not long after the upgraded S had proven its worth in coupé form, Lamborghini followed suit with the Aventador S Roadster—announced at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show.
The Aventador S Roadster was mechanically identical to its hard-top sibling but gained 50 kilograms from chassis reinforcements made to facilitate the open roof, meaning that 0. 3 seconds were lost to the coupé in a 0-62 mph sprint. Both cars shared the same top speed. Designed with cutting-edge technologies to prevent any further increase, the Roadster featured two detachable carbon fibre roof panels weighing just six kilograms (and shaped to be stowable in the front luggage compartment). With the roof removed, the sheer excitement of Lamborghini’s V-12 sounding along the open road would surely outweigh the split seconds counted in factory performance statistics.
This example left the Sant’Agata assembly line finished in Nero Pegaso paint over an interior configured in Nero Ade with Sabbia Nefertem leather upholstery. An options list, which details the car’s exact configuration to 2019 model year specification, is summarised over five pages and is available to view on file. The Lamborghini was built in right-hand drive and delivered new in the United Kingdom, where it was registered for the road on 24 October 2018.
The consigning owner acquired the Aventador via main dealer Lamborghini Chelmsford in September 2020, with the odometer reading noted at that time around 600 miles. In the care of the vendor, the car has been maintained by main dealer servicing, with invoices on file noting visits to Lamborghini Pangbourne in October 2021 and October 2022. Used sparingly in current ownership, the odometer reads just 4, 350 miles at the time of cataloguing. The car is offered at auction with its Lamborghini books and manuals in addition to a set of spare wheels fitted with winter tyres.
Scarcely used, this Aventador S Roadster offers collectors and marque enthusiasts an unmissable opportunity to sample the soundtrack of Lamborghini’s famous V-12 with the thrill of open-air motoring.
