A 2005 model year, the BMW R 1200 GS continues the great lineage of adventure bikes that BMW established with the GS series. Inheriting from the R 1150 GS, it ushers in a new generation, lighter and more powerful, which would considerably strengthen the model's reputation.
It is powered by a 1, 170 cc flat-twin "boxer" engine, cooled by air and oil, which develops approximately 100 bhp and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. This engine, smooth and full of character, is part of the machine's identity: it offers generous power delivery whilst maintaining the robustness and ease of maintenance that have made the range's reputation.
Comfortable, capable and reassuring, the R 1200 GS is equally at home on the road for long journeys with a passenger or solo, as it is on trails, where it retains surprising manoeuvrability for its size.
