This wonderful Series 1 is mechanically fit, if a little cosmetically challenged. It passed the MOT test this month, with NO advisories, despite having had little use during the past 6 years. The chassis is pretty sound, as is the bulkhead, although both have received some remedial work over the years. It retains the original, non-smoking, 2. 0 litre engine together with original gearbox and axles. It drives, steers and stops very well. And it has free-wheeling hubs to aid economy.
Recommissioning expenditure, totalling over £1500, included the fitting of a new petrol tank - the provision of 5 new tyres, NOT remoulds - a new battery - new rear springs - overhauling the starter motor - a brake overhaul incorporating new cylinders and brake pipes, plus a lube service.
The seats are in good condition having been reupholstered at some point and the hood is remarkably watertight, albeit a bit threadbare in places. You can have the truck cab as well if you wish, the choice is yours. I have some dusty rear seats residing in my garage which I'll also throw in if you want them.
So, here you have, bodywork apart, a splendid example of this 86 inch, the rarest of short wheelbase Series One's, which retains many original features, including its valuable transferable registration number. It is taxed (free), for 12 months and the V5c is in my name. You may have noticed that these little treasures are appreciating steadily. And whilst this is not a pristine example, I believe it still represents good value and a sound investment.
Retirement and a Senior railcard enable me to offer assistance with delivery so I'll be happy to drive it almost anywhere for the price of the fuel. Only selling to help fund the wedding of my youngest daughter - as you do!
