Description
Here we have a very rare Norton Mercury, it is only one of around 750 made. They were only produced in 1968 and 1969 so this is one of the rarest British twins you will find.
I bought this to build a café racer but when I researched the model I felt it was a shame to change its originality. I have since been offered a Dresda Triton hence the sale of this.
It has been dry stored and unused for approximately 20 years. For one reason or another it has lost its registration number and log book but I do have a letter from the Norton owners club stating the model and when it was dispatched from the factory. It has matching engine, frame and gearbox numbers and is mainly complete and original. The only things that are not correct as far as I can see are the twin carbs, it should be single. Also I am not 100% sure that the headlight is correct although it is a Lucas period one.
The condition is not too bad considering its age but ideally should be fully restored. It could have some mild work done and be used as is. The engine runs well and there are no nasty noises or smoke, there are a couple of broken fins. The frame has a small flat on one of the tubes. All the tinware is straight.
The wiring will need looking at .
