For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 in Marine Blue (1983).
MOT until 26th April 2018. 300TDI, 5 speed Gearbox, Galvanised Chassis, Parabolic Springs.
Here for sale we have a real wolf in sheep's clothing - on the surface a very standard looking Land Rover® Series 3, but underneath lies a superb 300TDI, mated to a 5 speed gearbox - this transforms the driving experience enormously, making it a very useable vehicle. The Galvanised Chassis aids with longevity, and Parabolic Springs afford a more compliant ride. The addition of disc brakes is also a nice improvement, so it stops as well as it goes!
Externally, as the photos show, a nice "stock" appearance, complete with period lamp-guards and handy towbar and electrics. A cat-flap back door has been added, a nice feature, which allows the rear to be locked for added security. A sump guard is fitted to the front of the vehicle to protect vital components should you wish to off-road the vehicle. The interior boasts a nice, recent looking deluxe seat set, and whilst the rear is currently unfitted, rear bench seats could be added to allow capacity for 7 passengers including the driver. Rear windows could also be fitted for a more airy feel, in addition to the seats, which would give a 'Station Wagon' effect. These can be added on request.
Out on the road, this is where the vehicle really exceeds expectations - it has power, comfort and economy which is normally not found on a Series vehicle. The further addition of 750 tyres mean this vehicle can more than keep with modern traffic with ease, and the disc braking system provides sharper stopping power than standard. It really does pound the tarmac! A hidden immobiliser is fitted which adds to the security of the vehicle when parked.
In summary then, this is in our opinion an exceptional and cleverly uprated Land Rover® Series 3, and with the Galvanised Chassis and Power-train, should prove to be a fantastic and long standing addition to any family. If you are looking for a standard looking Series, that you could use in more modern scenarios, then this must be the vehicle for you. To do these modifications to your own Series Land Rover® would likely cost more than this vehicle in parts and labour, so purchasing this vehicle will likely save you lots of time and money.
