An opportunity to acquire a nice, usable VW Golf ‘Clipper’ Cabriolet – a desirable Mk1 Golf in the very attractive ‘Paprika Red’ paint! After little use, the long-term family owners, since 1997, have decided she should be used and enjoyed and needs a new owner! Freshly serviced and MoT tested, fully valeted and paintwork polished, she’s very presentable.

Quite a rare model of the Golf Mk1 with only 6192 produced between 1985-1995, the Clipper version was built with the 1. 8-litre carb engine, 5-speed gearbox and GTi-style large bumpers and side-skirts. This car also has the power hood rather than the manual version (note that the hood cover was replaced in Jul 2009 and still appears near-new). The interior trim level was also higher and included internally adjustable door mirrors, digital clock and height adjustable driver’s seat!
This Golf has been well looked after, with the interior showing very little sign of wear after 25 years of use. The paintwork is also good with just a few small dents to the panels and a little fading to the bonnet paint. The alloy wheels are presentable but equally would easily refurbish (please ask, we can do this).
She starts easily, idles evenly and drives well on the road, the engine is strong, the steering direct (not PAS of course), gearbox is slick and brakes even. Overall a nice drive and especially for a 25-year old ‘modern classic’!
