We are delighted to present for sale this superb ex-military 90. We are told by the former keeper that it was ex Royal Marines, although further investigation of the visible military number will give more concrete information - it has been fully winterised for cold climates, which is interesting..... this incorporates long radiators in the rear of the cabin to keep the squaddies warm in the coldest of climates!
These military vehicles tend to survive in better order than their civilian counterparts, and this one is no exception - the chassis is nothing short of incredible, still being of smooth green finish from new - this is normally down to the sheltered military life they led, and the late release from forces... this one was only released in 2002, and has just 103, 000 miles on the clock. The diesel engine fires up with the merest whiff of heat, and runs from cold without smoke - very nice to see. The gearbox is also very smooth and works perfectly - including the diff lock and low range lever!
On the inside there are two front seats (another in the centre could be added), and there are two full rear bench seats. It's nice to note the addition of a heavy duty roll cage, which not only supports the two front, modern inertia belts, but also gives roll over protection. There is a long list of extra, interior military kit - one of which is a gun clip for the rifle in your life! It's all very interesting.
On the exterior, this is one handsome beast! What hasn't it got! There is military kit everywhere - snorkels, pioneer tools (nicely detailed), bumperettes, military lenses, whip aerials, the lot! The ex-military paint finish is pretty good too! A full set of XLR 750s finish off the cool appearance.
Out on the road, this solid 90 gives a fun, no thrills driving experience - early 90's are neither fast nor luxurious, but their ruggedness and solidity promise to give a lengthy ownership experience. The brakes are responsive and the 2495 engine is mated to the 5 speed Land Rover® box, giving the effect of an overdrive. This superb 90 then, could be used not just in the winter, but for those long summer evenings going to the beach, or travelling down a back, country lane.
In summary, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a ragtop 90, with ex military appeal and a chassis that is in superb, original, unwelded order - it promises to give a lengthy ownership experience, whilst being great fun all year round!
