Well here it is I believe this is the only Mazda 626 coupe GT (the important bit) on the road in the UK today. If you are looking at this you should be familiar with GT Coupe which has the amazing FE3N Engine. 2. 0 injection 148 BHP non-interference Cam! ( cam-belt brakes, engine still ok )
The coupe was the one to have better suspension than the sedan or hatch nice to look at and a very quick car for 1989 0 to 60 in 8 seconds.
The engine was so good KIA asked Mazda if they could use it in their 1996-2000 cars. (it had to be detuned for KIA!)
Please google the FE3N it is a very sort after block and a strong engine. Many people add turbos to these and they need almost no modification as they are that strong.
It’s not only on the road it’s in great shape with a huge amount of work done to bring it up to a great standard. This is my pride and joy and I have really looked after her.
This was a barn find about 3 years ago. And although the engine was good much on the car needed renewing.
So here is the rundown
Body work Excellent
I had a little paint done on it as there were a few scratches and small dents which I wanted to put right. It looks great now.
Underneath is A1 no rot or rust what so ever.
The smallest amount of surface rust on roof, you have to look for it.
Engine Fantastic.
No problems what so ever. The oil stays as clean as can be. Stars without a problem no overheating no problems all good.
Interior
Again very nice inside everything works including sunroof cruise control heater windows defroster the lot.
So here is a list backed up by paperwork as to the maintenance carried out. This has all been don within the last year or so and within 500 miles.
Cam-belt changed
New Discs and pads all around
New brake fluid
Two refurbished calipers
New shock absorbers and new springs on all 4 wheels!
New Fuel pump
New radiator
New power steering pump
New Thermostat
New starter
4 brand new Dunlop blue sport tires. ( excellent )
New rear silencer
New Clutch and flywheel (clutch was starting to go and I’m very finicky do changes it and the flywheel for good measures)
New gearbox oil ( difficult job)
New Battery
Oil changes and spark plugs and tune.
You can use this every day or take to shows whatever suits you.
It drives very nicely and looks the business.
I’m not a young fellow so I do not race or “mod” my cars I like them totally standard and this is what mine is.
Just forgot I also change the stereo ( have not got the original unfortunately) for a very decent Sony CD player and I also changed all the speakers to modern new ones. £250 worth of kit.
I have spent about £2500 on this and it’s a good one. You won’t find one in the UK that’s for sure in as good a shape as this.
I have some history with the car like the origin service book but it goes to 80, 00 mile so between that and 131, 00 apart from what I have done who knows. The previous owner told me he did get it services and he must of really but did not keep his bills.
