We are delighted to offer for sale this very sweet Truck Cab, which has been much improved in recent times. This vehicle has been the subject of a rolling restoration from it's former keeper, but due to old age and ill health it has found its way into our hands - we like these "cared for by an old school guy" machines, as they are nearly always better prepared and presented than others - and this one is no exception.
On the inside, there is a very tidy and recently fitted interior with new seats, centre cubby box and lovely dash, all put back together very nicely. All the dials and gauges work and there's a general feel that things have ben done carefully - there's two sets of keys for everything too, and all the doors lock on the key! The rear load bay is also cleverly finished, and even though it's out of sight, it's been lovingly restored. Deluxe matting is fitted throughout. Even under the bonnet has received lots of attention and new parts - very well presented indeed. The bonnet has a hasp and lock on it and combined with the knurled wheel to cut the power under the bonnet, this should make it very difficult to steal.
Externally, the vehicle is also well finished off, with bonnet mounted spare, a new set of tyres all round, defender wing mirrors for better visibility, chequer plate wing tops so you can sit on them in summer, and a towbar. The rear cover is cleverly supported underneath to give it a smooth, flat finish, and once again, generally, everything is well finished off.
Underneath, the existing chassis has been repaired and it has been painted in gloss black. Parabolic springs and new shocks are fitted to improve the ride, and coupled with the overdrive and road biased tyres it rattles along very well indeed, with an excellent turn of speed - perhaps this is not surprising in light of the care and attention with which this truck has been afforded - it drives and holds the road as well as the best of them!
In summary, if you are looking for a vintage Land Rover® that someone else has spent all the time and money on then this is worth considering. It is rare that we have few jobs to do to get a truck to our standards, but with the exception of our usual checks and bleeding the brakes (they are all new too but had a little air left in them) the vehicle was well prepared and ready to enjoy. We have included an engine bay shot which we hope speaks for itself! And with MOT and tax exemption in the wings it should be simple to run and maintain.
