Description
The Mercedes W124 range was built when Mercedes had an unreproachable reputation for building extremely well engineered high quality cars (the W124 was no exception), with tank like characteristics and doors that each shut like a swiss vault. The W210 model that followed, although well engineered, in terms of quality, pales into insignificance, the W124's classic status is already assured, with good examples being sought after. This car is a very nice, tidy example, in (744) brilliant silver with grey check cloth interior and burr walnut. A superb drive with a lovely responsive engine that is smooth and refined at all times. It will cruise happily on the motorway whilst returning excellent fuel economy (particularly when compared to the E320!). The sixteen valve M111 power unit being a vast improvement on the M102 engined 230E models, being both more perky and economical. The autobox which features both economy and sport modes is nice and smooth, changing gears as it should. Everything works on this car, the electric windows, the sunroof, the central locking, the electric mirrors, interior fan, all work. The interior wear is minimal, with a perfect drivers bolster and the wood is exceptional - in line with the low mileage of 86K. All the MOTs are present since '01, with the car first becoming due for the test in '99. Totally original and unmolested example. Priced realistically.
