As big fans of the BMW Airheads, we were absolutely delighted to acquire this mid ‘70s middleweight tourer.
Although the bike has been garaged, and last used in anger in 2009, she’s been regularly ran up to temperature, and given short runs out to stretch her legs. Mileage is a very reasonable 55k, with a history folder containing MOTs to support this.
I think that the word “patina” is much overused nowadays, but this BMW is a great example of what a cherished old motorcycle should look, and ride like. Have a good look at the pictures if you would. The classic black coachwork, complete with painted white coachlines, is absolutely immaculate, and that seat is the factory original, still carrying its Denfield decals, and containing the original factory first aid kit. The factory tyre inflator is still attached to the frame rail.
The bike has a number of splendid period extras, including stainless exhausts, crash bars, touring screen, Krauser luggage system with rear rack, etrc.
At over 40 years old, i would suggest that Airhead BMWs of this calibre rarely come on the market, and any Airhead enthusiast will appreciate this old girl. The motor is one of the quietest boxers we’ve heard in a long time, and she’s already attracted many admiring comments on her arrival in our unit today.
The history folder shows that a brand new Motobins gel battery was fitted a few months ago, and the bike will be supplied with a fresh MOT and oil service at point of sale. Just ask if you’d like me to email you a set of high resolution pictures.
