We are pleased to offer for sale this fine lightweight. On the outside, the vehicle boasts many of its original military features such as front and rear bumperettes, split tailgate with mountings for pioneer tools, bridging plate, rear NATO hitch, correct military lighting, military lifting eyes and bonnet mounted spare. A full matching set of 750 military chevron tyres are fitted, including matching spare. These not only look the part but increase the ratios slightly to allow a more relaxed cruise. A recent canvas is fitted, and the bodywork is in good order as the photos demonstrate.
On the inside, there are three standard seats in the front, with benches already fitted to the rear. This vehicle has a very standard feel - and comes with a Smiths heater with front-demist and an unmolested dash - with the military flyscreens in place.
This is a well specified lightweight, and comes with an expensive brake disc conversion for better stopping, a reconditioned 5MB engine with a more powerful Weber carb, to give a pleasing drive, and parabolic springs for a more comfortable and compliant ride. The fitted free wheeling hubs and oversized tyres, will give the best possible fuel economy. A recent reconditioned gearbox has been fitted - the Achilles heel of most series 3s!
Out on the road, this lightweight drives really well, perhaps due to the late release from the military, and the attention and upgrades received since that time. The sales pack includes a lever-arch folder with lots of receipts and information - always nice to see.
In summary, if you are looking for a good, solid lightweight, then this is worth considering. With a very high spec, coupled with 12v power, it should prove easier to own and run.
