Work completed in addition to engine rebuild in my ownership - N/ S kidney repair, Brakes overhaul (callipers and discs), Swepco transmission fluid, Toyo Proxes all round, fuel tank and pump replacement, windscreen washer pump overhaul, accelerator pivot rod, rear wiper motor recondition, 8 way elect seat switch rebuild and clean, 2x crank sensors (Bosch).
The engine rebuild was conducted by well established and renowned Air-cooled 911 expert Nick at Redtek. It was a blueprinted top end rebuild (inc re-nicasill heads, time-sert head studs, new tinware, exhaust, clutch and heater boxes as well as standard rebuild items - chains, guides, valves and valve seats etc). 'While you're in there' jobs also included heat exchangers, cross over pipe, muffler and fuel lines.
Still carrying its original and venerable 'HUL' registration with original Bill of Sale. Hand written letters from previous owners, provenance docs, 2 keys, tool kit, air compressor, Certificates of Authenticity as well as a stack of original marketing information. Formally owned by Tony Jardine and sold only to fund an RAC rally vehicle.
Serviced by MCE, Tuthill, Redtek and Greatworth classics, the car has been in great hands during my ownership.
Points to consider. The bodywork has seen paint in the past. Further, the car is still running on its original dampers that could do with a refresh to sharpen up the handling. The ride is exquisite nonetheless.
The car is not a concourse special but it is a durable and reliable classic that needs an owner who will use it more than I do. It starts on the button and whirrs into that steady mechanical thrum that we all remember. The interior has that unforgettable smell of leather, oil and sweat that transports you back in time. The doors shut with that hewn-from-solid 'clink' that remains unmatched in modern vehicles and that view out the front window over those pontoon fenders with those 5 aircraft cockpit instruments bouncing and climbing is automotive zen.
MOT free from next year.
---History: Purchased out of Motortune, Brompton Rd London in 1987 by Mr Carey, the vehicle moved onto a Mr Sermon before being purchased by motoring pundit, Mr Jardine. Only sold to fund an RAC rally vehicle the 911 passed on to Mr Grover who owned it 17 years prior to my purchase in 2015.
I could note down all the accolades of the later 3. 2 G50 Carrera but if you're here, you've read it all before.
Many thanks.
