Hello, I am putting up for sale my 1962 Giulietta SS (Sprint Speciale). Just over 1, 000 of these were produced and designed by Scaglione for Bertone. Equipped with a 5-speed gearbox and the same engine as the Giulietta SZ (a more competition-oriented version designed by Zagato), the design was inspired by the BAT Alfa Romeo concept cars, also designed by Scaglione in the mid-1950s.
This example was delivered new to Boulogne Billancourt in France on 6 March 1962 and is still in its original configuration: Bluette exterior colour, red-bordeaux leather interior with matching carpet. The engine and gearbox assembly has never been replaced, so the factory plate with the engine number matches that currently in the Giulietta. It has only had 4 owners (including myself since 1962).
During the period 2023-2024, it underwent a number of maintenance and reliability upgrades, which cost over €13, 000: General overhaul:
- Engine, gearbox and rear axle oil change - Coolant replacement - Air filter replacement - Installation of an electronic ignition system, Replacement of air filter - Installation of electronic igniter, new ignition wiring harness - Replacement of spark plugs - Replacement of fuel filter - Replacement of accessory belt - Valve clearance - Replacement of cylinder head cover gasket - Replacement of rear suspension springs and rear shock absorbers - Complete overhaul of both carburettors, including jets - Adjustment of brake mechanisms (triple shoes on SS) + brake bleeding - Replacement of engine mountings and gearbox mountings - Replacement of complete exhaust system (manifold, intermediate, silencer) - Replacement of exhaust system (manifold, intermediate, silencer) - Replacement of exhaust system (manifold, intermediate, silencer), Replacement of the complete exhaust system (manifold, intermediate, silencer) - Replacement of all the cooling hoses - Refurbishment of the radiator (dismantling, refurbished wiring harness, paintwork) - Replacement of the differential seals - New sump base (quite fragile on these models) - Set of new carpets with full original rubber mats The tyres are in excellent condition and recent. The fuel tank has been treated with epoxy to prevent any future damage - Following recent seepage from a front shock absorber, both will be replaced before the sale This Giulietta has been preserved with as many period features as possible to retain its charm. The paintwork and bumpers are therefore not new, and for me that's what makes it so charming, because it's still completely usable without fear of a micro-scratch. The same goes for the interior, which still has the atmosphere of yesteryear (even the windows are all still original).
