History The MGB (MG Type B), is a car made by MORRIS GARAGES (MG), produced from 1962 to 1980 and available in four successive versions: MK1, MK2, MK3 and MK4. Initially produced only as a roadster, it was also marketed as a coupé or "GT" from 1965. The marque's greatest commercial success, around 500, 000 examples were produced until 1980 (around 350, 000 roadsters and 150, 000 coupes), when it disappeared.
Four successive series of MGBs were built:
The MGB Mk I, fitted with a 1. 8-litre, three-stage engine, then with a 5-stage engine from October 1964; the MGB Mk II, fitted with an engine of equivalent capacity but with five stages; the MGB Mk III, similar to the previous one but with different finishes (radiator grille, rear lights); the MGB Mk IV, fitted with rubber bumpers, single carburettor and upgraded suspension (in compliance with the anti-collision standards in force in the United States from May 1974).
