Seat 1400 Spider prototype, 1957 At a time when some manufacturers were beginning to use fibreglass, such as Alpine in 1955 and Chevrolet with the Corvette in 1954, a Spanish company called Ceplastica, which later became Formica, designed a prototype Seat 1400 A. The same company went on to manufacture the following cars: Isseta / Biscuter / Gogomobil / Pegasin (by Pedro Serra). The 1955 Seat 1400 A retained its chassis and all its mechanical parts. The driver's seat was moved back, the gearshift (4-speed gearbox) was moved to the floor and the body was completely rebuilt.
