Hello, L'atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale this superb Triumph Tr3 in a particularly desirable configuration, with its silver paintwork and Cartier red upholstery. The Triumph TR3 is one of the icons of the British roadster of the 1950s, renowned for its sporty character, sleek lines and seductive mechanical simplicity.
Introduced in 1955, the first "small mouth" series represented only 18% of production, and was distinguished by its narrow grille and authentic charm.
Delivered new on 28/ 02/ 1957, this TR3 underwent a quality restoration from the chassis upwards some ten years ago. The paintwork is shiny and presents very well. The chromes are shiny, with only the windscreen frame pillars showing slight discolouration.
The black vinyl soft top is in very good condition, with supple fabric and translucent glass. A rare body-coloured hard top is also available.
The Cartier Red upholstery is new, as are the carpets, interior trim and body panels, all of which are harmonious and contrast wonderfully with the exterior colour. Mechanically, the car behaves marvellously, the engine starting easily without noise or smoke and revving satisfactorily. The gearbox guides and locks well, while the overdrive works without latency in all gears.
A number of improvements have been made to make the car more reliable and improve the driving experience, including the addition of a Kenlowe electric fan and the replacement of the fuel tank with an aluminium version. Most importantly, the original steering box has been replaced by a rack-and-pinion steering system, which provides greater flexibility in use. The original steering is supplied and the chassis and suspension have undergone Epoxi treatment, indicating that the vehicle has been completely dismantled and carefully restored. The steering and suspension are pleasant to use. Braking is by front discs and is well balanced and effective. The chromed wire wheels are shod with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres in good condition. New long-range lights have just been fitted.
