It looks like a small sports car, but inside it's the ultimate in luxury! History When Alejandro de Tomaso acquired Maserati in 1976, he had ambitious plans for the brand. His plan was to combine the prestige of the Maserati brand with a sports car that would be more affordable than the expensive early models that had traditionally made up the Maserati range. In fact, Maserati completely stopped making supercars like those developed under Citroën ownership, such as the Bora and Khamsin. CHRONOLOGY MASERATI BITURBO 1983: Maserati Biturbo S 1985: Maserati Biturbo (II) S 1986: Maserati Biturbo Si 1988: Maserati 222, 222 E and 2. 24V 1990: Maserati 222 SE 1991: Maserati 222 SR and 222 4V One year was all it took for the Biturbo to benefit from a sportier version, soberly called the S. Three years later, both versions were available. Three years later, the two versions introducing fuel injection came out almost simultaneously, and the Si arrived in autumn 86. From an aesthetic point of view, the untrained eye would not be able to make out the few minimal changes made to the Biturbo II S. And for good reason - the only thing new was the rims! There's also the question of differentiating it from the 'simple' i. The rear spoiler is the trademark of the Biturbo S and will be carried over to the 222 and 2. 24v. The honeycomb grille that adorns the trident is also specific, as is the front bumper and its yellow fog lamps. Costing 265, 000 francs at the time of its launch, it was possible to opt for two-tone paintwork. The original design remained unchanged, with a classic look that had proved its worth. In 1986, Maserati finally introduced electronic fuel injection on its V6 Biturbo engines. This was a welcome initiative, as engine performance became smoother and more consistent. Gone were the days of sluggish acceleration, laborious warm starts and chaotic slowing down. Only the mechanical sound and character are less pronounced, but that's all relative. Following on from this, Maserati unveiled the Biturbo Si which, based on the Biturbo II, took up the idea of the previous S/ ESs but with electronic fuel injection and an increase in power to 220 bhp. In the cabin, the seats were redesigned to provide better support. The NACA air intakes have been redesigned to bring fresh air directly into the engine compartment to cool it. Proof of the formula's success, 992 Maserati Biturbo Si were produced between 1986 and 1988. Description The MASERATI we are offering for sale has a long track record and should reassure its new owner as to the work carried out and the quality of the car. It dates from 1 April 1988, is Italian in origin and its second owner, who bought it in Italy on 5 December 1996, left us all its maintenance records from the order form. The car was serviced in Italy by a MASERATI agent and has 72, 000 km. Numerous expenses are documented by the invoices attached to the order form. Living in Paris, the car is registered in France and will be serviced by SPORT & PRESTIGE. The car clocked up 88, 807 km in 1998. The timing belt was changed, as was the water pump, and the wiring harness was overhauled. At 90, 000 km, the clutch emitter and receiver were replaced, as was the intermediate silencer. In 2000, tragedy struck... the engine block broke and was replaced and completely rebuilt... crankshaft rectification, cylinder head and valve seat rectification, overhaul of the 2 turbochargers, set of piston liners, bearing bushes, connecting rods, top and bottom engine pockets, change of water pump, oil pump, radiators, injectors, clutch disc, change of rear silencers, replacement of brake discs, it's a total package. It's worth noting the garage's comment on the invoice in the vehicle box: Maserati- TA MAITRESSE !!! The car will be run in for 1, 500 km as a first step. The car will be carefully monitored and will clock up 113, 810 km in 2002. 2004: 115, 685 km: the engine is checked, the turbo is changed and the timing is redone. 2007: 132, 794 km. This was the year the upholstery was redone: the roof and tunnel were rebuilt, the foam and sand-coloured Alcantara were replaced, and the leather on the front seats and central armrest were refurbished. The starter motor will also be replaced...
