Description
Produced from 1968 until 1987, the Citroën Méhari was a great success at the time, as evidenced by the almost 145, 000 examples produced. Derived from the 2CV, from which it took many elements, the Méhari met a demand for a car that was easy to build, easy to maintain and easy to use, to meet a variety of needs, including those of emerging and developing countries. One of the icons of its time, it also enjoyed success in the cinema, notably in the film Les Gendarmes de Saint Tropez (the last film) and appeared in 11 other films, not forgetting television series and video clips.
More than 60% of the 145, 000 Mehari's produced were made in the Forest factory in Belgium. Despite its success, no other model will replace it until 2016, when Citroën presented an electric version, but this remained a prototype... NYC's/ OXOTO is offering for sale a beautiful green model, black leather interior, 4-seater (option at the time) from September 1974, with less than 1, 000 km on the clock. Its current Belgian owner has owned it since September 2019 and has decided to sell it due to a lack of time to enjoy it. The all-plastic bodywork looks good, with no dents or scratches to be seen, apart from a slight paintwork defect on the rear bumper. The interior also looks very good, including the seats, steering wheel, door interiors and, above all, all the closing covers.
On the mechanical side, we unfortunately don't have any invoices, but we do have a very recent invoice for the car's roadworthiness test, which was passed successfully, given that it was dated April 2025 and only mentions a minor remark (battery), even though it's new. On the other hand, we do have the documents from the period, which confirm its original appearance and quality.
