The layout of the engine compartment is that of a Willys, the cylinder head is a Hotchkiss, WOF inscription on the right-hand side of the engine. This confirms a rebuild by the French army in several stages: in 1946 from US parts, then later exchange of the body and probably the engine with French Hotchkiss parts. jeep, which passed through the Maltournée regional plant, reissued or rebuilt jeeps for the French army from 1946 onwards, re-using stocks left by the US at the end of the war. the chassis number (aluminium plate riveted to the left-hand side rail at the front of the chassis: bottom photo) MB is 414891.
